National Food Security Mission (NFSM) By: Anshika Rani National Food Security Mission (NFSM) was launched in October 2007 by National Development Council (NDC). The mission started with production of Rice, wheat & pulses, met an overwhelming success. Therefore, the mission was continued to 12 th five-year plan and coarse cereals and commercial crops were added to the list. Objective Promotion & extension of upgraded technology for both increasing production and resource conservation. To increase production of rice, wheat, cereals, coarse crops and commercial crops. To increase area of farming for such crops. To re-establish soil fertility and productivity at individual farm level. To reduce dependence on import of edible oils by increasing production of vegetable oil. Features A Centrally Sponsored Scheme (CSS) In 2018- 2019 & 2019- 2020, National Mission on Oilseeds and Oil palm (NMOOP) & Seed Village Programme were added to the list of
